Cleaning guide
Cleaning is the lender's job, and the cost is the lender's too. We recommend building it into your daily price.
For example, a £9 dry clean on a 3-day rental adds £3 a day to your price. Dry cleaning an occasion dress often costs £15 to £30, and delicate or vintage pieces can cost more, so check your cleaner's price before you set yours.
Stains and damage
Ordinary wear, light marks and stains that come out at the dry cleaner are covered by your cleaning, so the cost sits in your price. If professional cleaning can't remove a stain, or the piece is torn, burnt or missing beads, make a damage claim. Claims are paid up to £250 from our protection fund.
Cleaned between every rental
Every piece must be cleaned before it goes out again, even if it looks unworn. Please mention strong scents, perfume, smoke or pet hair in your description, and let renters know if you use scented products, so anyone with allergies can decide. If a piece arrives dirty or smelling of smoke, the renter should photograph it within 24 hours and message the lender.
For lenders
- Clean each piece to its care label after every rental
- Check seams, zips, hems and linings before it goes out again
- Store pieces in a dust bag between rentals
- Photograph the piece after cleaning so you have a record
For renters
- Please don't wash or dry clean the piece
- Tell the lender about any spills or marks when you return it
- Return it in the packaging it came in
Check it when it arrives
Renters take photos within 24 hours of receiving the piece: front, back and any marks. If it arrived dirty, message the lender with the photos in that time. Without photos, the lender's photos count and the renter can't claim the piece arrived dirty.
After it comes back
The lender checks the piece against the renter's photos and confirms the return, then cleans it before the next rental. Report any problem within 48 hours of the return.
